Titan Medical Inc. Appoints Dr. Balasubramanian Sivakumar to Its Medical Advisory Board

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/18/11 -- Titan Medical Inc. ("the Company") (TSX VENTURE: TMD) announced today that it has appointed Dr. Balasubramanian Sivakumar, M.D., to the Company's Medical Advisory Board.

Dr. Sivakumar is currently Vice President of St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY and President elect of the medical staff for 2012. During his medical career, Dr. Sivakumar has achieved numerous awards such as The Patricia Ann Award of Excellence at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center which signifies the most distinguished award to a physician of the Highest Quality (1990); The CNY magazine 2010 Peer Recognition Award as the Best General Surgeon in the Region; and the Physician Top Star Award from St. Joseph's Hospital in 2009, to name just a few. Dr. Sivakumar is a robotic surgery proctor/mentor and has trained numerous surgeons practicing robotic surgery in specialties including General Surgery; Cardiac Surgery; Urologic Surgery; Thoracic Surgery, and Gynecologic Surgery. Dr. Sivakumar is currently Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY and Director for Advanced Cardiac Life Support program at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. In addition, he teaches family practice residents at St. Joseph's Health Center. Dr. Sivakumar's administrative responsibilities include Director of the Surgical Critical Care Unit; Surgeon, Ambulatory Care Unit; and Director of the Department of Surgical Physician Assistants at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center.
